Slipknot Kick Off International Tour Jan. 20, 2002
Iowa Certified Platinum

December 5, 2001 – Slipknot will launch a headlining overseas tour from January 20 - March 24. Kicking off in Helsinki and wrapping up in Tokyo, the trek will hit arenas in 12 countries, including indoor bullrings in Madrid and San Sebastian. The band's recently platinum-certified Iowa album debuted at #1 in the U.K., at #4 in Germany and #5 in Italy.

Following the overseas shows, Slipknot will return to the U.S. for a headlining tour that will make up for shows that were cancelled. As previously reported, the wife of percussionist Shawn Crahan had to undergo surgery at the Mayo Clinic for Crohn's Disease. Since her difficult recuperation is expected to take six weeks, Shawn will remain at home in Iowa to care for his wife and three young children during that time.

In addition to the wall of sound created by three percussionists, Slipklnot's stage show consists of pyrotechnics, hydraulic lifts, state-of-the-art lighting and side-of-the-stage marquees emblazoned with the flashing numbers 666.

Slipknot are DJ Sid Wilson, drummer Joey Jordison, bassist Paul Gray, percussionist Chris Fehn, guitarist James Root, sampler Craig Jones, percussionist Crahan, guitarist Mick Thompson and lead singer Corey Taylor.
