Red, White and Nuge: Ted Nugent for Governor
November 13, 2002
In a recent opinion poll, listeners of Grand Rapids radio station
WOOD (News Radio 1300) rallied behind their Motor City Madman Ted Nugent as the
leading candidate to run against current governor Jennifer Granholm in Michigan's 2006
gubernatorial race. With an overwhelming 91.57% of the vote, Nugent beat out such
contenders as the speaker of the Michigan House Rick Johnson and former lieutenant
governor Dick Posthumus.
"I'm flattered that the Michigan citizenry grasps my sincerity,"
says Nugent. "I have always celebrated my 'We the People' activism. Maybe it's
time to take it to the next level." Ted, who returned to his Michigan ranch after
wrapping up the first leg of his tour for his new album Craveman,
continues: "The status
quo system of politics sucks. Maybe it's time for an upheaval. Call me Ted 'Upheaval'
Nugent. We'll see what happens."

Following the recent release of his Craveman album (Spitfire Records), Ted Nugent
is maintaining a high profile this November with an MTV "Cribs" spotlight that premiered
Wednesday, November 6, an in-depth interview on National Geographic Channel's Emmy
award-winning "Inside Base Camp" program airing Friday, November 22 (7:30 & 10:30
PM ET/PT) and the cover of the new issue of Guitar Player magazine.
For his "Cribs" profile, Ted provided MTV an exclusive look at his Michigan ranch home,
revealing everything from his trophy room full of stuffed game to the sprawling kitchen
where the wild animals are prepared. Changing gears, Ted's comprehensive one-on-one
interview with National Geographic Channel's "Inside Base Camp" host Tom Foreman
envelops the adventurer's passion for rock and roll, hunters' rights, and his family. In
addition, Ted openly shares his opinion on environmentalism, Jimi Hendrix, his critics, and
"Kill It and Grill It," the cookbook he co-authored with his wife Shemane.
Marking his 31st recording, Craveman finds Ted particularly amped and
gloriously pissed off in a way that will remind fans of his earlier pivotal recordings. The
album is rife with manifestos of fierce independence, sex and living out loud with titles like
"Crave," "RawDogs & WarHogs" and "Pussywhipped." Produced by the Michigan native
with Drew & Chris Peters at 40 oz. Sound in Ann Arbor, the music was
created by Nugent's "inexhaustible quest for sonic bombastardized rhythm perfection"
which "fuels the American Dream as if it has never missed a beat, and the good, bad and
ugly continue to inspire us to no end."
