Pantera Postpone Headline Tour Until 2001 For the First Time in Their 14-Year Career
November 1, 2000 Platinum recording artists Pantera have been forced to postpone the first leg of their headline arena tour due to lead singer Philip Anselmo breaking two ribs.
Scheduled to begin on November 7, the tour dates will be rescheduled starting February 2001 subject to venue availability.
"We all just spoke with Philip, he feels terrible and it's just humanly impossible to sing with two broken ribs," stated Pantera drummer and spokesperson Vinnie Paul. "All 4 of us just want him to heal quick so we can get the hell on the road. We know that all of our fans were eagerly awaiting the tour and will be very disappointed, as are all four of us. It was an accident and it couldn't be helped. We have every intention of hitting all the cities that we were going to play on this tour. We look forward to seeing you in the new year."
Since their inception, Pantera has garnered dozens of gold and platinum albums worldwide, one platinum home video, two gold home videos and three Grammy nominations all accomplished with virtually no radio support or video exposure. After relentless touring following their breakthrough albums Cowboys From Hell, Vulgar Display of Power and Far Beyond Driven, Pantera was invited to tour with their idols, Black Sabbath as part of the very first Ozzfest tour and follow-up Black Sabbath Reunion Tour. Pantera recently completed this summer's Ozzfest tour, sharing the bill with Ozzy.
Pantera is Philip Anselmo on lead vocals, Dimebag Darrell on guitar, Vinnie Paul on drums and Rex Brown on bass.
Additional information concerning new and re-scheduled tour dates, ticket information and more on Pantera will be forthcoming.
