Tom Petty To Perform New Album in Concert
Event Will be Broadcast to Movie Theaters and Radio Stations Nationwide

October 3, 2002 — One week after the October 8 release of their new album The Last DJ (Warner Bros.), Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will perform two concerts (Tuesday, October 15 and Wednesday, October 16) at the Grand Olympic Auditorium in downtown Los Angeles. The band will perform the new album in its entirety with an orchestra at this one-time-only event. The October 15 show will be transmitted live via satellite to movie theaters in 36 cities across America and to over 125 radio stations in US and Canada at 7:30 PM PT/10:30 PM ET. The radio broadcast will be preceded by a 30-minute pre-show. Movie theater tickets will be available through radio stations presenting the event in each city and a limited number will be available for sale through participating ticket agencies. For information on purchasing advance tickets and a list of theaters, cities, and participating radio stations visit tompetty.com.

The Last DJ will be released in two configurations. The regular CD package will be enhanced with footage of filmed studio performances of two songs from the album -- the title track, "The Last DJ" and "Have Love Will Travel" -- accessible through fans' computers. Also available will be a separately priced limited-edition package containing both the enhanced CD and a DVD featuring "The Last DJ Studio Sessions." The 38-minute DVD offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the new album, with studio footage of performances, interviews and documentary footage from The Last DJ recording sessions.
