Sheryl Crow and Gwen Stefani Join All-Star Line Up to Honor Edgar Bronfman, Jr. and Raise Funds for the City of Hope

Artists To Perform Classic Motown Music
October 5, 2001 Sheryl Crow and Gwen Stefani have been added to the line-up of artists who will be interpreting classic Motown songs as part of this year's City of Hope Spirit of Life Award dinner honoring Vivendi Universal Executive Vice Chairman Edgar Bronfman, Jr.
Proceeds from the event, held October 11th on the Universal Studios back lot, will establish an honorary research fellowship in Mr. Bronfman's honor at the
City of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute.
Other artists already announced are India.Arie, Bilal, Mary J. Blige, Jon Bon Jovi, Roger Daltrey, Melissa Etheridge, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Ronan Keating, Jonny Lang, Shelby Lynne, Smokey Robinson, Richie Sambora, Sisqo, and
The Temptations along with special guests to be announced.
"This is an incredible honor for me," comments Mr. Bronfman. "I am
pleased that we will be able to help raise funds for the City of Hope, which
continues to lead the charge in aiding people throughout the country who are
struggling with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. I am also honored
by the level of world-class talent that will be joining us to make this
evening possible."
The music and entertainment industry has raised more than $30 million for
the City of Hope in its 27-year history.
Edgar Bronfman, Jr. is Executive Vice Chairman of Vivendi Universal. Prior to the December 2000 formation of Vivendi Universal, Mr. Bronfman
was President and Chief Executive Officer of The Seagram Company Ltd., a post
he held since June 1994. He held the same title with Joseph E. Seagram &
Sons, Inc., the Corporation's U.S. subsidiary. Mr. Bronfman was elected to
Seagram's Board of Directors in May 1988 and was a member of its Executive
Committee.
Mr. Bronfman is a member of the Boards of USA Networks, Inc., New York
University Medical Center, The Wharton School of the University of
Pennsylvania, and the Board of Governors of The Joseph H. Lauder Institute of
Management & International Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Bronfman is married and resides in New York City. He has seven children.
