Porno For Pyros Guitarist Releases First Music Title Created for Surround Sound
October 13, 2000 Peter DiStefano, former guitarist of
Porno For Pyros, has realized his vision for the first surround sound music
release by bringing together fellow musicians and DJs to create a cutting-
edge electronica project that is spiked with rock guitar.
The album, Venice Underground, is released today on DVD
through immergent Records and its sister label Electromatrix. The album is
unique because it's written, produced and recorded specifically for the new
5.1 channel surround format that is made possible by the DVD configuration --
the first of its kind.
DiStefano chose to bring the project to immergent Records due to a shared
desire to utilize the latest in technology in the most creative way
imaginable.
DiStefano, who also produced the album, describes Venice Underground as
"...electronica with balls." "The ability for me to create music in surround
sound has opened up a whole new world," says DiStefano.
The release is also unique by featuring a "making of the record"
documentary and a separate music video for every track on the record as well
as a choice of visual options.
The album also features Eric Avery (Jane's Addiction), David Baerwald
(David and David, Sheryl Crow) and the anonymous Little Green Boy and Little
Green Girl.
Venice Underground will also be available on CD January 9th, 2001
through immergent Records.
