P.O.D.'s 'Satellite' Reaches Triple Platinum
September 20, 2002
Satellite, the second album from P.O.D.,
has been certified triple platinum by the RIAA for U.S. sales in excess of
3,000,000 units. The album achieved platinum certification in October 2001,
just over a month after its debut, and double platinum status in March 2002.
This week, the band shared the stage with Carlos
Santana for a live performance on the Third Annual Latin
Grammy Awards show. The band joined the legendary guitarist to perform
the song "America," the P.O.D.-penned collaboration with Santana slated to
appear on the latter's forthcoming new album, Shaman.
P.O.D. was recently nominated for a total of six 2002 MTV Video
Music Awards, tying Eminem and Missy Elliott for the most nominations this
year. In addition, the quartet just wrapped up their co-headlining stint on
the multi-artist extravaganza, Ozzfest 2002, which kicked off in Scranton,
Pennsylvania on July 10th, and ran through September 8th in Dallas, Texas.
