Deftones Announce Tour Dates with Incubus
September 11, 2000 With a Gold record for White Pony, their third Maverick CD, a Kerrang! UK
Music Award for "Best Album of the Year," a just-completed, sold-out
European tour, glowing words written on the pages of Rolling Stone, Time,
and Newsweek, and a Top 5 radio track ("Change (In the House of Flies)"),
Deftones are set to hit the road again with their "Back To School" U.S.
tour, starting Friday, October 13 in Seattle, WA. Dates for this second leg
are expected to go through the first week in December, and Deftones will be
joined by second act Incubus, and opener Taproot on all dates.
It's been quite a whirlwind for vocalist Chino Moreno, guitarist Stephen
Carpenter, bass player Chi Cheng, drummer Abe Cunningham, and DJ Frank
Delgado since White Pony was released on June 20. The buzz on the album
began early in the year, and hit its first peak the day of its release with
the band's first-ever appearance on "Late Show with David Letterman." An
SRO U.S. tour immediately followed, and the Sacramento quintet that helped
pioneer the aggressive rhythmic rock movement are becoming overnight
sensations after more than a decade.
White Pony easily demonstrates that the group's music is becoming more
challenging, dynamic, and complex, as well as a bit moody. Deftones'
concert set will consist of material from White Pony as well as the
certified Gold Adrenaline and Around The Fur CDs.
