Chris Isaak's Beat Goes On: Series Renewed for Third Season on Showtime
August 14, 2002 The quirky Showtime Series, "The Chris Isaak Show," has been renewed for a third season.
Described as "so cool, it deserves to be hot" by TV Guide
magazine, "The Chris Isaak Show" will return in 2003 with an additional 13
episodes. Production is scheduled to start in January 2003. The Los Angeles
Times has said of the program, "No series is more charming or effortlessly
amusing. No comedy actors wear better than Isaak and his gifted ensemble."
Part comedy and part reality, "The Chris Isaak Show," which airs on Tuesdays at
10:00 PM (ET/PT), is an irreverent behind-the-scenes look at the life of a
rock star. Featuring Chris, his real life band members, Kenney Dale Johnson
(drummer), Hershel Yatovitz (guitar) and Rowland Salley (bass), and an
ensemble of created characters including Kristin Dattilo as Yola, Chris' sexy
manger, Jed Rees as Anson the keyboardist and Greg Winter as Cody, Yola's
nemesis at the management company, the show offers a mix of fact and
fiction.
The series has attracted such guest stars as Bridget Fonda, Minnie Driver,
John Corbett, Stevie Nicks, Trisha Yearwood, Gavin Rossdale (Bush), Jay Leno,
Adam Arkin, Green Day, The Goo Goo Dolls, Shelby Lynn, Steven Jenkins (Third
Eye Blind), Brett Michaels (Poison), Sophie B. Hawkins, Paul Stanley (KISS),
Bai Ling, Caroline Rhea, Joseph Bologna, Kathy Griffin, Joe Walsh, Vince Neil,
Lisa Loeb and many others.
The series is executive produced and written by Emmy(R) and Peabody
Award-winning writers/producers Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider ("Northern
Exposure," "Dangerous Minds"), and executive produced by Chris Isaak and
Phoenix Entertainment's Mike Medavoy and Arnold Messer.
