Dixie Chicks to Perform at Gala Event to Benefit the Fight Against Pediatric AIDS in Texas
August 13, 2001 Texas's beloved chicks will come home next month to perform at the invitation-only Texas Twilight Gala benefiting the Pediatric AIDS League of Texas, University of Houston Pediatric HIV Program and Pediatric AIDS Network of Dallas (PANDA). The Office of the Governor Texas Film Commission & Music Office and Pediatric AIDS League (PAL) of Texas will host the inaugural event.
The Texas Twilight Gala, which will be the Dixie Chicks' first live performance in 2001, will take place at the Austin Music Hall on September 15. Grammy winner Shawn Colvin is also scheduled to appear as well as special guest Terri Hendrix. The Dixie Chicks will perform a unique acoustic set with the Austin Symphony Orchestra -- marking the first time the Chicks have performed with a full string orchestra behind them. The Texas Twilight Gala will be produced by Los Angeles-based event planner Jeffrey Best of Best Events.
"PALs relationship with the Dixie Chicks began with the birth of Natalie
Maine's son, Jackson Slade, when she requested that donations be made to the
organization in lieu of baby gifts," said Clif Loftin, Executive Director
Pediatric AIDS League of Texas. "We are honored to continue that relationship
and be the beneficiary of this special Dixie Chicks performance knowing the
impact monies raised will make to fight pediatric AIDS in Texas."
All proceeds from the performance will go to the fight against pediatric
AIDS in Texas.
