Ex-En Vogue Member, Dawn Robinson, to Release Solo Debut

July 30, 2001 – Former member of the bands En Vogue and Lucy Pearl, singer/songwriter Dawn Robinson will release her debut solo album on Q Records, October 16, 2001.

Recorded in Philadelphia, Atlanta and Los Angeles, the album, titled Dawn, includes production credits from songwriters/producers such as Pajam ('N Sync, Sisqo), Travon Potts (Christina Aguilera, Monica), Ivan Barios and Carvin Haggins of the Mysphitz (Jill Scott, Musiq), Allstar (Joe, Koffee Brown) and Kenni Ski (Christion). The first single from the album, "Envious," will go to radio for adds on September 18.

En Vogue redefined the female group genre with their 1990 debut Born to Sing and their 1992 multi-platinum Funky Divas, which featured three chart-topping singles: "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)," "Free Your Mind," and "Giving Him Something He Can Feel." The album garnered the group a series of awards, including a Grammy Award nomination, an American Music Award and a number of Soul Train Awards.

In 1997, En Vogue released its third full-length album EV3. Although this album marked Dawn's departure from the group, the album's song, "Don't Let Go," went to #1 platinum status. Dawn helped form the neo-soul group Lucy Pearl in the summer of 1999, and the group's Grammy-nominated, self-titled debut sold more than a million copies.

"I am extremely proud of this album," said Dawn. "This creative freedom of being involved in every aspect was exhilarating. I grew as a singer, songwriter and artist, and when it was over, I felt a great sense of accomplishment. There's something for all the En Vogue and Lucy Pearl fans, and the new Dawn fans as well."
