July 26, 2000 – The unification begins: Now that Unified Theory – lead singer/guitarist, Chris Shinn, former Blind Melon members guitarist Christopher Thorn and bassist Brad Smith, and Dave Krusen (Pearl Jam's drummer on their Ten debut album) – have released their first single "California" to rock and alternative radio, the band has hit the road.

The song, which already garnered 45 adds on such high-profile stations as KNDD "The End" in Seattle its first week out, comes from their forthcoming self-titled debut album due out August 15 on the Universal distributed 3:33 Music Group label. A video for the song was recently shot on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles with Bobby G. at the director's helm.

The band's album is already generating a buzz. Alternative Press said it has "...passionately earnest music with an aggro edge... the result swirls in a spiritual and uplifting mix of pure pop," while Guitar World described the album as having an "...ethereal, dreamy sound." Elsewhere, Guitar Player said: "Thorn's creative inventions transformed Unified Theory into a kaleidoscopic collection of noises." The band will be mesmerizing audiences throughout the summer on its first round of headlining shows, as well as newly announced dates with Goudie and the Live/Counting Crows tour.
