Tina Turner Announces Second Leg of North American Tour

Joe Cocker Announced as Special Guest

July 14, 2000 – Due to the overwhelming response to her recent Twenty Four Seven Tour, Tina Turner has decided to give her fans what they want one last time. Sweeping through North America again with her signature legs and sultry voice, Tina will embark on the second and final leg of her wildly popular final tour. Presented by Target and promoted by SFX Music Group, the tour is set to kick off on September 20th in Boston and continue through early December, hitting 40 markets across the U.S. Tina has reaffirmed that although she will continue to record and make special public appearances, this will be her final major tour.

The first leg of Twenty Four Seven World Tour once again confirmed Tina Turner's status as one of the finest performers and musicians of our time. Tina's electrifying stage presence, described by USA Today as "her irresistible show-biz sparkle [and] the raw energy and earthly sensuality that have made her a rock and soul icon," helped the tour sell out in every city, becoming one of the most successful of the year, grossing over 40 million dollars. Backed by a 12-piece band including 7 musicians, 5 dancers and back- up singers, Tina performed hit after hit spanning her entire 40-year career, including high-octane versions of early R & B hits "A Fool In Love" and "River Deep, Mountain High," as well as 1980's platinum-plus sellers "What's Love Got To Do With It" and "Private Dancer" and her new singles "When The Heartache is Over" and "Whatever You Need." The same magic will be present on the new set of dates.

The tour coincides with the album Twenty Four Seven, which was released by Virgin Records America on February 1st. The album entered the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart at Number 21, the highest album bow ever either as a solo artist or as a partner with her former husband. The album was released in Europe in October 1999, and has sold 3 million copies worldwide.

Joe Cocker will be Tina's special guest throughout the tour.
