A Perfect Circle Announce the Perfect North American Tour
Band Embarks on Headline Dates Beginning August 18th in Boston
July 13, 2000 A Perfect Circle, the heavy,
alternative rock quintet, are pleased to announced the kickoff of the band's
first North American headline tour in support of their debut album Mer de
Noms. The tour kicks off August 18th in Boston at the Avalon Ballroom and is
expected to go until mid September.
Founded by guitarist, producer and chief songwriter Billy Howerdel, A
Perfect Circle blends aggressive hard rock with expansive melodies and
subversive lyrics. The band features Maynard James Keenan on vocals, Troy Van
Leeuwen on guitar, Paz Lenchantin on bass and Josh Freese on drums.
A Perfect Circle recently made history as they stormed onto the Billboard
Top 200 in the #4 position, marking APC's debut as the highest chart entry
ever by a rock band's first album. The album spawned the ferocious first
single "Judith," whose video was directed by acclaimed filmmaker David
Fincher. That, along with the band's opening slot on the U.S. Nine Inch Nails
Fragility 2.0 tour, help fuel the band's success. The single "Judith"
continues to remain top 5 in the rock and alternative radio charts and Mer de
Noms, released on May 23, is officially certified gold.
APC won over audiences and critics alike. Entertainment Weekly gave Mer
de Noms an "A-", describing the group's music as one featuring "guitar
shrapnel with genuinely pretty melodies and frilly production
flourishes kinda like a neo-Metallica, but with cojones."
