New Madonna Album Scheduled For Fall

Previous Releases Reach New Multi-Platinum Status

July 10, 2000 – Music, a new album from Madonna on Warner Bros. Records, will be released worldwide on September 19th, according to her manager Caresse Henry. The first single, the title track, will be released in early August.

Music, Madonna's eighth album of new material was recorded in London. It was co-produced by Madonna along with French dance sensation Mirwais. William Orbit (who helmed her l998 smash Grammy winning Ray of Light) co-produced several cuts along with Mark "Spike" Stend and Guy Sigsworth, with dance mixes by Groove Armada, Hex Hector and Victor Calderone.

According to Ms. Henry, "Music combines elements of pop, electronica, folk and dance with a funky edge." The video for the single "Music" was recently shot in Los Angeles by director Jonas Akerland who won several MTV Awards and a Grammy for "Ray of Light," l998's Video of the Year. In the new video, actress Debi Mazar and Madonna's long time background vocalist and touring partner Nikki Harris join Madonna on a riotous night out on the town chaperoned by the English comedian and TV star Ali G.

Artwork for the CD has been shot by renowned photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino. Kevin Reagan, who won a Grammy for Best Art Direction on Madonna's Ray of Light CD, is on board once again as art director for Music.

In other Madonna news, The Immaculate Collection, Madonna's l990 all-hits compilation, featuring the number one hit "Justify My Love," has recently been certified nine times platinum, signifying U.S. sales in excess of nine million units.

Additionally, the Grammy-award winning Ray of Light, featuring such chart-topping gold singles as "Frozen" and "Ray of Light," has been certified quadruple platinum, signifying domestic sales in excess of four million units. International sales of Ray of Light have exceeded eleven million units.
