New Jamiroquai Album, A Funk Odyssey Due Out September 11th
Band to Perform First UK Gig in Two Years, August 11th
June 19, 2001 Jamiroquai release their fifth album on Epic Records, September 11th. Titled A Funk Odyssey, the album follows 1999's four-million-selling Synkronized CD which placed the band among the UK's top-selling worldwide acts of the last ten years.
A Funk Odyssey was produced by Jay Kay with in-house Jamiroquai engineer Rick Pope. Kay also co-wrote and arranged the ten-track album. The album features different styles from turbo-powered disco to a hard-edged sound to sweeping orchestral soundscapes.
"Little L," the funky first single off the album, was co-written by Kay and Toby Smith, Jamiroquai keyboardist and long time collaborator.
To celebrate the launch of the new single and album, Jamiroquai will headline their first major UK gig in two years -- an open air event at Knebworth, August 11th. Sponsored by Ministry of Sound and featuring an all-star line up of DJs, the gig will provide an exclusive airing of tracks from the new album as well as Jamiroquai classics from previous years.
