June 19, 2001 – Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros announce their North American tour beginning October 4 in Washington, DC taking them across the continent-playing New York City's Irving Plaza on October 9--and ending on the West Coast later in the month. Strummer and his mates (Pablo Cook, Martin Slattery, Scott Shields and Tymon Dogg) will be touring in support of their forthcoming new album Global a Go-Go, due out July 24 on Hellcat Records/Epitaph.

Next month, Strummer and the Mescaleros will head stateside for a promotional "Whistle Stop" tour of in-store appearances to coincide with the release of Global a Go-Go performing July 24 in New York City at Virgin Records in Times Square, July 26 in Toronto at HMV, July 27 in Chicago at Tower Records, July 28 in San Francisco at Amoeba and August 1 in Los Angeles at Tower Records Sunset. While in Los Angeles, Strummer and his band will also perform at the Greek Theatre on August 4, opening up for Brian Setzer.
