David Gray's The EP's 92-94 Set for July 10 U.S. Release
Reissue of A Century Ends and Flesh to Coincide
June 8, 2001 July 10, Caroline Records will release a rare collection of early David Gray recordings titled The EP's 92-94. The ten-song compilation comprises Gray's first three U.K. singles from his debut album A Century Ends -- "Birds Without Wings," "Shine" and "Wisdom" -- as well as their respective bonus tracks, five of which have never before been released in America. "Coming Down" from Gray's second album, Flesh, rounds off the collection. In addition, The EP's 92-94 includes an enhancement featuring two rarely seen videos for the songs "Shine" and "Wisdom."
Gray writes in the sleeve notes, "I was working in black and white when I was just with the acoustic guitar back then, and that was what I was best at. Some of the things on
here I think are the best representations of that early time 'cos I'm just standing there on my own. I was just doing what I did and giving it everything."
Although at the time of release Joan Baez called David Gray "The greatest lyricist since Dylan," these early tracks went largely ignored by the public. Recently in high demand, however, David Gray's first two albums, A Century Ends and Flesh, will also be re-issued in newly repackaged form by Caroline Records, July 10.
