Travis Make In-store Appearances, Tour with Dido, and Perform on Kilborn, Letterman, and VH1
June 8, 2001 As Travis prepare to release The Invisible Band (Epic), the follow-up to The Man Who, the band will take time out from their upcoming tour with Dido to perform and sign autographs at four in-store events surrounding the album's release.
In conjunction with music retailer Music 101, Travis will perform an electric set for fans at the Yerba Buena Gardens, adjacent to Metreon at 4th and Mission Streets, in San Francisco at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, the day the CD is released. Two days later, June 14, the band will perform a plugged-in show at the courtyard outside the Virgin Megastore at 8000 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, CA, 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at 1:00 p.m., fans in Boston will be treated to an acoustic performance at Newbury Comics located at 211 Alewife Brook Parkway in Cambridge, MA. And Tuesday, June 26, the band hits New York City to perform acoustically at the Virgin Megastore in Union Square at 52 East 14th Street, 7:00 p.m. Following each of these in-store performances, Travis will sign copies of their new album. A limited number of wristbands/laminates for the in-store performances and signings will be available to fans who are among the first to purchase the CD.
And the first 75 people who purchase The Invisible Band from Music 101 in San Francisco and Virgin Megastore in Los Angeles will receive a free ticket to either the Travis/Dido show at Shoreline Amphitheater in San Francisco, June 13 or the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, CA, June 16. Newbury Comics of Cambridge, MA will also have a limited number of tickets for the June 24th Travis/Dido show in Boston, MA at the Tweeter Center available to fans who get their copy of The Invisible Band first.
Travis will also perform the first single from the album, "Sing," on "The Craig Kilborn Show," June 15, and "The Late Show with David Letterman," July 10. Additionally, both singer-guitarist Fran Healy and bassist-vocalist Dougie Payne will get up extra early in the morning June 15 to appear on the Kevin and Bean morning show on the L.A. alternative-rock station KROQ.
