New Order to Release Album This Fall
First Collection of New Material in Eight Years
June 7, 2001 Seminal British techno-rockers, New Order, are recording NEWORDERGETREADY, their first album of new material in eight years. The collection will be the band's Warner/Reprise Records debut after having spent nearly twenty years on the WEA-affiliated label, Qwest.
Bernard Sumner fronts the group with plaintive vocals and inventive guitar playing, while drummer Stephen Morris and keyboardist Gillian Gilbert keep the rhythms and melodies moving. The band is anchored by Peter Hook's trademark bass playing, long regarded as New Order's signature sound.
Produced by Steve Osborne (Curve, the Shamen) and mixed by Mark "Spike"
Stent (Madonna) and Flood (U2, Depeche Mode), the album features guest
appearances by ex-Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and Primal Scream.
NEWORDERGETREADY is scheduled for release on October 16, 2001. In the
meantime, New Order will co-headline several West Coast dates of Moby's
Area:One Festival.
