Twilo on CD
Music from the World's Most Famous Dance Club in Your Living Room
June 30, 2000 Some say no where else in the world can you go to dance to the most cutting-edge music on the planet except Twilo. From the moment devotees of this legendary New York nightspot pass through the door, they are taken away to another place, a musical space, some might even say a spiritual one.
For those unable to join resident Twilo DJ Junior Vasquez and his 3000 disciples on a typical Saturday night, Virgin Records is enabling you take a little of that excitement home. August 29, Virgin will release
Volume One of Twilo Presents, the first album in a series of music straight from the floor of famous club.
The first Twilo Presents collection will be the music of Junior Vasquez. Captured on either two CDs, two cassettes or (of course) vinyl, the first edition features over seventy minutes of music bearing the unique fingerprint of Twilo's house DJ, including Donna DeLory's "On & On," Ke's "Believer," Y.M.O.'s "InDo," Bobby Slate's "Floating Higher" and Junior's own "Be Quiet."
More Twilo Presents collections will follow, including an album from eclectic progressive house DJs Sasha and Digweed, who also enjoy a monthly residency at the club.
About Twilo:
Twilo is America's first and only real super club, with resident DJs Sasha
and John Digweed, DJ Dan, Sven Vath, Junior Vasquez, Carl Cox, Groove Armada and
others. Catering to an ethnically diverse, primarily gay crowd, Twilo has the
best DJ talent worldwide and is at the forefront of the electronic music
scene. Every weekend 10,000 people go to Twilo, where they dance through the
night to music emanating from what is considered by many to be the world's
best club soundsystem.
About Junior Vasquez:
One of the most celebrated DJs and remixers of his time, house music
innovator Junior Vasquez was the co-founder of the legendary Sound Factory
dance club. He honed a trademark fusion of bass-heavy house beats with a
seemingly endless supply of obscure samples, innovative remix techniques and
quirky signatures (such as his penchant for spinning records backwards, or at
the incorrect speed). His recognition spread beyond the dance floor, enabling
him to produce and remix tracks for many top artists, including Madonna, Cyndi
Lauper, Lisa Lisa, John Mellencamp, and others.
