Don't KISS the Auction Goodbye

Bid On Hundreds of Lots Opening Under $500

June 19, 2000 – On Saturday and Sunday June 24-25, KISS fans the world around will log onto the Internet or show up at Hollywood's Paramount Studios for KISS THE AUCTION to bid on a piece of KISS-toric memorabilia.

Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have teamed with Greg Manning Auctions, Inc. (NASDAQ: GMAI) and Butterfields, an eBay company, to auction their private collections to the very fans that made them famous. Aside from the spectacular stage-worn costumes expected to bring upwards of $100,000, many of the 850 lots being offered are modestly priced collectibles. Bidding on these items is expected to open under $500. Next week fans may log on to www.theauctionchannel.com to watch or bid in the real-time simulcast of KISS THE AUCTION, and maybe even take home a piece of KISStory!

For weeks, KISS Army members from around the world have gone online to browse and buy the full color catalogs, auction posters and collectible 8x10 photosets available for sale and viewing at www.butterfields.com/KISS and have marveled at the high-end big ticket items – incredible life-sized mannequins in full costume and makeup, drum sets used on tour and prototypes of guitars designed by Gene himself – that will sell for thousands of dollars.

But the bulk of the sale, and much of the more personal items belonging to Gene and Paul, such as letters, original art and hand-written lyrics, will begin at much more accessible prices, so everyone will have a shot to win a piece of the world's most recognized band – KISS.

Among the hundreds of modestly priced items are:

  • An outrageous lot – a gallon of stage prop blood from the Psycho Circus Tour, offered with a warning: this product not to be used past expiration date, is estimated to sell between $100 to $200
  • A series of early 70s KISS concert posters for venues in the states and overseas will be offered – some are framed posters promoting opening acts Cheap Trick, RUSH and Uriah Heap, all with estimates of $300 to $500
  • A set of 12 Gene Simmons autographed b&w 1990 publicity photographs will be offered – estimated at $300 to $500
  • An interesting collectible is a Gene Simmons beverage cooler used on various tours – it is marked with the KISS logo and offered with the notation that Mr. Simmons insists that old drinks be left in the cooler, not discarded – estimate $200 to $300
  • An original Paul Stanley design sketch for the KISS Konfidential home video should bring $400 to $600 while an original design sketch for the Paul Stanley action figure should bring $300 to $500.
  • A Gene Simmons black leather circle-studded arm band worn on the Revenge Tour could be worn by a fan for $250 to $350
  • A lot of pen and charcoal sketches from 1978's film KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park will be offered at $400 to $600
  • A set of three original handwritten lyric sheets for a Gene Simmons solo LP could bring $600 to $900
  • A personal Gene Simmons item sure to enhance any fan's collection is a black leather cat-o-nine tails style whip with a gold metal studded handle used by the band member in photo shoots – estimate $400 to $600
All are welcome to view the auction, but please note that those planning to bid online must register with The Auction Channel by Thursday, June 22, in order to participate. Check with www.butterfields.com/KISS or call 800-223-2854 for more information.
