June 8, 2000 – In a delightfully candid and thoughtful conversation, Sinead O'Connor came out as lesbian publicly for the first time during a recent interview with Curve, the nation's best-selling lesbian magazine.

"I'm a lesbian," Ms. O'Connor confirmed in a June 2, 2000 interview with Curve reporter Diane Anderson-Minshall, "although I haven't been very open about that, and throughout most of my life I've gone out with blokes because I haven't necessarily been terribly comfortable about being a lesbian. But I actually am a lesbian."
