Queensryche's Geoff Tate to Release Debut Solo Album
May 16, 2002
Geoff Tate, lead singer of legendary band Queensryche, will release a self-titled solo debut June 25th on Sanctuary Records.
Tate decided to release his own solo album not because he needed to record an album that
did not mesh with the scope of his band, but because he needed a new outlet to express his
views lyrically and musically.
Tate explains, "The problem when you're in a creative environment is keeping things fresh and
invigorating, and after working with the same people for twenty years, it gets very difficult. You
walk into the room, and everybody knows what everybody else is going to do. What's nice
about doing a side project with new people is that it is a whole new breed and a bunch of new
ideas, musical backgrounds, emotional baggage and whatever else it takes to create."
The eleven-track CD was produced by Tate and recorded at Bearcreek Studios in Maltby,
Washington.
Geoff Tate has been a been a member of Queensryche for twenty years and has released
eleven records and two long-form videos worldwide.
