REO Speedwagon Set the Record Straight
May 30, 2001 REO Speedwagon's Kevin Cronin was shocked when he heard Howard Stern and Dennis Miller, on their respective shows, report that a concert promoter had cancelled an REO show on May 11th due to "lack of ticket sales." In fact, more than 40,000 tickets were distributed to REO fans for a free show for the first day of the Queens Creek, Arizona
Rock Festival to celebrate the 15th year anniversary of Phoenix classic radio station, KSLX. The three-day festival was canceled by the promoter due to lack of ticket sales for the second two days of the three-day rock festival, May 12th and 13th.
"I've never seen anything like it," Kevin Cronin said. "All I knew was, we were going down to the desert to play a free concert for a radio station. Next thing I know, Howard Stern, Dennis Miller, CNN and every newspaper in the country is going off on us for not selling tickets, I guess they haven't been to one of our shows lately or maybe it was just a slow news day."
REO Speedwagon have sold over 40 million albums to date.
