B.B. King Sets Annual European Jazz Festival Concert and More

May 9, 2001 – If it is late June/July, than B.B. King can be found touring the European jazz festivals. Starting in Paris, June 26 and winding down in late July, King will be performing in at least ten countries: France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, England, Scotland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, and Austria.

King's annual European jazz festival trek is still being booked. When King returns to the States, he will kick off his 10th annual B.B. King Blues Festival with special guests Buddy Guy, John Hiatt and Tommy Castro.

Earlier in the year, King toured throughout the United States including three concerts in Alaska (two in Anchorage and one in Fairbanks) and Hawaii. And from June 1-3, King will be performing his annual Mississippi homecoming concerts.

June 4, B.B. King will record his first Christmas album in his long, illustrious career. The sessions will be held in Louisiana with King's touring band. King will also be the producer. The CD will be released in time for the 200l holiday season.

In the 49th annual downbeat Magazine Critics Poll, B. B. King won three awards: Blues Artist of the Year, Blues Album of the Year ("Ridin' With the King" with Eric Clapton) and Blues Group of the Year.
