Mighty Mighty Bosstones to Release New CD July 9
Band Headlines Vans Warped Tour
April 30, 2002
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones -- one of the first bands to mix high-energy ska with hardcore punk and reggae -- will release their new album A Jackknife to a Swan July 9 on Los Angeles-based independent label SideOneDummy Records. "It's a match made in heaven," says Bosstones singer Dicky Barrett. "Having spent as many years as we have in the corporate system and fighting it from all directions, it's nice to be in a house where the owners understand who we are and let us call it home."
A Jackknife to a Swan -- the band's seventh studio album -- teams up the Bosstones with producer John Seymour, who's also worked with such artists as Alice in Chains, Sick of It All and Bouncing Souls. The CD has 13 new tracks including "Everybody's Better," "Sugar Free," "Seven Ways," "City" and "Go Big."
The Bosstones -- Dicky Barrett (vocals), Joe Gittleman (bass), Joe Sirois (drums), Ben Carr (the bosstone), Tim Burton aka Johnny Vegas (sax), Chris Rhodes (trombone), Roman Fleysher (sax) and Lawrence Katz (guitar) -- will also co-headline the Vans Warped Tour '02 47-city trek from June 21 through August 18.
