Papa Roach to Release New Album June 18
April 18, 2002
With this month marking the two-year anniversary of the release of Papa Roach's triple-platinum debut, Infest, the band -- vocalist Jacoby Shaddix, guitarist Jerry Horton, bassist Tobin Esperence and drummer David Buckner -- is gearing up for the June 18 release of lovehatetragedy, produced by Brenden O'Brien (Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Rage Against The Machine). "He's the right guy for us right now," Jacoby says of O'Brien. "He's big and rocking, and that's where we are taking this next record, to a rock edge."
The first single, "She Loves Me Not," is set to hit rock radio May 7, with a video to be shot in Los Angeles later this month. Songs on the album include "M-80," "Sid," "Black Clouds," "Time and Time Again" and "Decompression Period." "It's got enough of the old flavor in it from the last record, but it's got a new side of the band that people haven't really seen, and that's the super-melodic side. But it's still hard and aggressive," Jacoby says.
After winning the Outstanding Single award for "Last Resort" at the 2001 California Music Awards, Papa Roach's achievements are being recognized once again with two nominations this year. Jerry is nominated for Outstanding Rock Guitarist and Tobin for Outstanding Rock Bassist. This year's ceremony, at which the band will perform, takes place April 27 at Oakland, California's Henry J. Kaiser Arena. Meanwhile, Papa Roach were also part of the all-star lineup that paid tribute to rock legends Aerosmith on mtvICON: Aerosmith. The band performed "Sweet Emotion."
In other news, Papa Roach plan to release a DVD later this summer that chronicles the events of the Infest years.
Stay tuned for tour dates.
