New Uncle Kracker CD Due This Summer
April 10, 2002
Uncle Kracker announces the upcoming release of
No Stranger to Shame. The new album will arrive in stores this summer. It follows 2000's RIAA double-platinum certified Double Wide, which includes the #1 hit single, "Follow Me."
Produced in his native Detroit with Double Wide collaborator Mike
Bradford, No Stranger to Shame sees Uncle Kracker continuing to mine his
special blend of down-home soul, funky country, groove-tinged hip-hop,
and hard-driving rock 'n' roll. Among the album's highlights will be a
cover version of Dobie Gray's 1973 pop-soul classic, "Drift Away." The
track -- a crowd-pleasing standout of Uncle Kracker's live
performances -- features Gray himself on backing vocals.
Uncle Kracker -- currently on the road as a member of Kid Rock's Twisted Brown Trucker band -- was easily one of 2001's most exciting new artists. Powered by the crossover pop smash, "Follow Me," Double Wide reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200.
In addition to tours alongside Kid Rock and Sugar Ray, Uncle Kracker
made a number of high-profile TV appearances in support of Double Wide,
including performances on Late Show With David Letterman, The Tonight Show
With Jay Leno, Live with Regis and Kelly!, The X Show, The Late Late Show
With Craig Kilborn, CNN's Showbiz Today, and VH1's Name That Video.
