Bush Inks Long-term Deal with Atlantic
Label Debut Slated For September Release
April 30, 2001 Bush have signed a long-term, exclusive worldwide recording contract
with Atlantic Records, it was announced today by Atlantic Group Co-Chairman/Co-CEO Val Azzoli. The multi-platinum British quartet is currently at work
on their debut album for the label, slated for release in September. Bush band members are Gavin Rossdale (vocals/guitar), Nigel Pulsford (guitar), Dave Parsons (bass), and Robin Goodridge (drums).
In making the announcement, Val Azzoli commented, "Bush is
undoubtedly one of the greatest rock bands to emerge in the past decade,
producing music marked by extraordinary creativity, energy, and passion.
Most importantly, since releasing their first album seven years ago, they
have continued to evolve as both inspired recording artists and powerful
live performers. I believe that their best work lies ahead of them, and it
gives me great pleasure to welcome Bush into the Atlantic family."
Gavin Rossdale said, "We are happy to have finally found a home and
a platform that is perfect for the band."
Bush's manager, Irving Azoff, said, "The group and I believe that
Atlantic is the right home for Bush, and we are looking forward to working
closely with everyone at the label to take this remarkable band to unprecedented
levels in their already accomplished career."
Formed in 1992, Bush made their recording debut in 1994 and have since sold
over 14 million albums worldwide. The band's breakthrough first album,
Sixteen Stone, was ultimately certified six-times platinum by the RIAA,
while yielding five hit singles, including "Everything Zen," "Little
Things," "Comedown," "Glycerine," and "Machinehead."
The band's second multi-platinum set, Razorblade Suitcase (1996) entered
the Billboard 200 album chart at number one and featured tracks such as "Swallowed," "Greedy Fly," and "Cold Contagious." Deconstructed, a remix album of tracks from Sixteen Stone and Razorblade Suitcase, was released in 1997.
The band's third album of all-new material, The Science of Things, was released in the fall of 1999 and featured hits such as "The Chemicals Between Us" and "Warm Machine."
