Billy Joel To Make Rare Appearance at Tower Records

April 28, 2000 – Billy Joel will make his first in-store appearance in twenty years to personally thank fans and to autograph copies of his new album, 2000 Years - The Millennium Concert. The event will take place Tuesday, May 2, 2000, from 7 - 9 p.m. at Tower Records on 66th and Broadway in New York City. 2000 Years - The Millennium Concert will be available in stores on May 2, 2000. As an added bonus to customers, the entire Billy Joel catalog will be placed on sale at all Tower Records New York locations. In addition, customers will be able to enter to win one of twenty autographed and framed Billy Joel posters at the Lincoln Center store or online at www.towerrecords.com. The giveaway will begin April 28th at www.towerrecords.com and May 2nd at the Lincoln Center store.

On December 31st, 1999, Billy Joel performed a New Year's Eve concert in New York City at Madison Square Garden. His newest release is a live recording of the event, 2000 Years - The Millennium Concert.

2000 Years - The Millennium Concert contains over two hours of music from the concert. Tracks include such hits as "Big Shot," "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)," "The Ballad of Billy the Kid," "New York State of Mind," "Prelude/Angry Young Man," "Only the Good Die Young," "I Go To Extremes," "We Didn't Start the Fire," "2000 Years," "Auld Lang Syne," "River of Dreams," "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant," and "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me." Not only did he delight the audience with his own classics, but he played some rare personal favorites as well, including the Rolling Stones' "Honky Tonk Women" and Sly & the Family Stone's "Dance to the Music."

Billy Joel's Millennium Concert capped off a banner year for the entertainer. Among 1999's highpoints: Billy Joel was presented with the American Music Award of Merit, the worldwide sales of his albums topped the 100 million unit mark and he was presented with the RIAA Diamond Award (10 million copies sold in the U.S.) for Greatest Hits Vol. I & II. On March 15, Billy Joel was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by the legendary Ray Charles.

Billy Joel's music has impacted audiences for the last twenty-five years, earning him the reputation of being one of the most popular recording artists and respected entertainers in the world. He has won five Grammy Awards including Record of the Year (1978), Song of the Year (1978), Album of the Year (1979), and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male (1979 & 1980). In 1990, Billy Joel received the Grammy Legend Award.
