More on Limp Bizkit's "Back To Basics" Free Tour; Series of Free Fan Concerts to Start in July

April 25, 2000 – Beginning July 4 and continuing through August 6, Limp Bizkit will be performing a series of free fan concerts to kick off the upcoming release of the group's new album, Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water, set for release in August.

Says lead singer Fred Durst on the origin of the idea for the free tour: "It's been a great year for Limp Bizkit, and we wanted to give something real back to the fans." The band's current release, "Significant Other," has scanned close to six million copies and sold eight million worldwide.

The tour, sponsored by Napster.com, will feature special guests Cypress Hill plus a third act to be announced and will take place as multiple night shows in 3000 to 5000 seat venues in the following markets:

CHICAGO, DALLAS, MINNEAPOLIS, DENVER, DETROIT, SAN FRANCISCO, BOSTON, SEATTLE, NEW YORK, LOS ANGELES

Venues and dates will be announced on Limp Bizkit's website and on radio as the events get closer.

All proceeds from sponsorship of the tour will go toward the direct expenses related to the tour. Limp Bizkit and Cypress Hill will not make any money from their participation. Tour expenses covered will include costs for trucks, buses, hotel, sound and lights, etc. while show costs covered will include venue rent, stagehands, and security.

Fred Durst had this to say regarding the tour: "We wanted to play smaller venues with open floors so we can get closer to the fans. We would like things to be as hassle-free as possible: the shows get announced, the fans line up, and the first ones there get to see the show."

Also, on Napster sponsorship:
"We believe that the Internet and Napster should not be ignored by the music industry as tools to promote awareness for bands and market music. "We could care less about the older generation's need to keep doing business as usual; we care more about what our fans want, and our fans want music on the internet."
