Counting Crows and Live Announce Summer Concert Tour Together
Tickets for First Leg on Sale April 29th
April 18, 2000 Rock powerhouses Live and Counting Crows will co-headline a major summer tour of North America beginning July 28th at the Sandstone Amphitheater in Kansas City, MO, it was announced today by management for both groups.
Tickets for the majority of the 24 shows of the first leg of Counting Crows & Live's tour (July 28 - Sept. 3) will go on sale Saturday, April 29th.
The Second Leg of the tour will run from September 12th to the end of October.
It will include all major cities throughout the South and West.
Frontmen Ed Kowalczyk of Live and Adam Duritz of Counting Crows developed the idea of touring together earlier this year. Both Adam and Ed, who live in Los Angeles, have desired to tour with one another for quite some time.
Timing and the on-going success of both groups made it clear that this summer combination would be a Home Run.
"Live is a great band and Ed is a good friend," Duritz said. "I think the fact that we come from different musical perspectives will make for a really dynamic evening of music. Both bands are about the music, and we want to open it up for all of our fans."
Kowalczyk says of the upcoming jaunt, "When I heard the song, 'Angels Of
The Silences' from the Counting Crows, I was totally moved. About a month after I met Adam Duritz and we became instant friends. We talked about the fact that we share a lot of fans and that it would be cool to tour together someday. Well, here we come this summer to a town near you!"
Counting Crows is celebrating the arrival of platinum status this month for its recently acclaimed DGC/Interscope CD release entitled This Desert Life. The group also just released a two-part single for "Mrs. Potter's Lullaby" which is already in top five rotation at AAA radio.
Live recently wrapped up a sold-out headlining tour of Australia on the wings of their latest album The Distance to Here. "The Dolphin's Cry," the long player's soaring first single, proved to be a modern rock radio monster resulting in the album's now platinum status in several countries including the U.S.
