Will Smith, Backstreet Boys, Adam Sandler, Smashmouth and Britney Spears Among Winners at Nickelodeon's 13th Annual Kids' Choice Awards

April 17, 2000 – Will Smith, the Backstreet Boys, Adam Sandler, Smashmouth and Shaquille O'Neal were among the celebrities who received coveted Kids' Choice Blimp Awards at Nickelodeon's 13th Annual Kids' Choice Awards, emceed by Rosie O'Donnell and co-hosted by LL Cool J, David Arquette, Mandy Moore and Frankie Muniz. The Hollywood Bowl was filled with more than 17,000 cheering kids and families gathered to honor this year's winners. This year's show taped on Friday, April 14 and aired on Saturday, April 15 at 8:00 PM ET/PT.

From February 28 to March 27, a record-breaking 15 million kids participated in the voting, up from last year's 6.2 million. For the first time in Kids Choice history, ten categories were exclusive to online voters. Online voting increased by over 100 percent vs. last year's awards show.

A highlight of the evening occurred when actress Jennifer Love Hewitt presented the Hall of Fame Award to Rosie O'Donnell, who also won for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie (Tarzan). The show's grand finale featured the Sliming of Will Smith, who took three orange Blimp Awards home for Favorite Male Singer, Favorite Song and Favorite Song From A Movie. Smith's achievements were duly capped off by the traditional Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Sliming.

Musical performances by 'N Sync, Jennifer Lopez, the Goo Goo Dolls, and Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey rocked the Bowl. Other celebrities participating in the awards show included Robert DeNiro, Mel Gibson, Ray Romano, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bill Goldberg, Jamie Foxx, 98 Degrees, LFO, Ben Savage, Rider Strong, Leslie Bibb, Carly Pope, Melissa Joan Hart, Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, Lindsay Felton and Steve Burns.

Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards has emerged as one of the biggest events in Hollywood, boasting a massive popular vote and sweeping audience participation. It is the only awards show that gives kids the power to vote for their favorites in movies, television, music, sports and much more – and honors their opinions with a live show filled with the stars they love.

Nickelodeon's 13th Annual Kids Choice Awards was produced by Nickelodeon Productions, a unit of Viacom's MTV Networks. Albie Hecht and Mark Offitzer served as executive producers. Burger King, Gateway and Johnson & Johnson were co-sponsors of Nickelodeon's 13th Annual Kids' Choice Awards.
