Orgy Cancel Remaining Tour Dates
Orgy are out sick. The band has been forced to stop their headlining tour because guitarist Amir Derakh contracted mononucleosis. Doctors say Derakh's illness is severe, and have ordered him to cease touring for the next five to six weeks. In addition to their remaining shows, Orgy may also have to pull out of the upcoming Raid the Nation
tour with Papa Roach. The members of Orgy regret the cancellations and appreciate the tremendous response they have received from fans during the tour. Amir is expected to make a full recovery and the band plans to continue touring May through June after Amir has recovered. The band is currently looking into rescheduling some of their lost dates.
Unified Theory Cancel U.S. Tour as Work Begins on Their Second Album
Unified Theory have cancelled their March tour, as well as their appearance at this year's South By Southwest convention, in order to start working on their second album. The tour was scheduled to kick off March 17 at SXSW and conclude April 1 in Raleigh, NC.
According to the group, a number of songs have already been written for the follow-up to their self-titled debut and they're anxious to get to back into the studio.
"We want to send our sincerest apologies to our fans who were waiting to see us on tour," Unified Theory said in a collective statement. "We hope they'll understand that we're just too excited about our new songs and that we wanted to get started on recording them right away. The past few months of scribbling lyrics on cocktail napkins, holding late-night writing fests on our laptops and singing into our personal tape recorders have resulted in almost an album's worth of new songs. Our fans won't be disappointed. We'd also like to thank everybody for their continuous support, and we value every single person who's been there for us since the beginning."
Unified Theory have spent the past seven months touring in support of their debut, which was released August 2000. They've performed with Live, Counting Crows, Vast and Goudie, and a number of their own sold-out shows.
The band is hoping to have their second album recorded and released by early 2002.
