March 23, 2000 – Lionel Richie will join Tina Turner for her "Twenty-Four Seven" tour which begins in Minneapolis March 23, 2000. While on the road, Richie will perform many of his classic hits as well as new songs from his upcoming album Renaissance, scheduled for release on Island/Def Jam early this summer.

From his days with the Commodores to his career as a solo artist, Richie has never stopped writing, producing and performing classic songs that range from mainstream pop, to country to jazz to rootsy Rhythm and Blues.

Beginning March 23, Richie will embark on a three-month tour with living legend Tina Turner. "I really don't get to enjoy what I've accomplished unless I'm performing the songs," he says. "The love that an audience gives you makes you realize what your songs have meant to them. It truly humbles you." When asked what it's like to be making the journey with superstar Tina Turner, Lionel's voice rises. "She's one of a kind. And she's been through all of the stuff I have. She knows what highs and lows make up this business. She's a comfort and a thrill to watch, all at the same time." Lionel pauses for a second as a slow smile forms on his lips. "Besides, she tells even better stories than I do."
