The debut of the Beyond 2002 Super Festival is scheduled for April 12 - 14 in Miami, FL. Over 39 hours of music, extreme sports, exhibitions and vendors will entertain more than 100,000 fans at Miami's Bicentennial Park. Doors will open each day at noon and close at 1 am, while five stages will operate concurrently.
Participant Ice-T says "Beyond 2002 is going to connect all the street-based cultures and show the spectrum of subcultures that have come out in the last 20 years."
The main performance stage will feature headlining acts such as OutKast, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Ice-T, Rabbit in the Moon and more. Other stages and tents will host both established and up-and-coming electronic and drum-n-bass specialists. Stay tuned for complete line-up.
Extreme sports stars, such as Bucky Lasek & Andy Mac Donald (skateboarding), Jay Miron and Thad Miller (BMX), Kenny Bartram and Trevor Vines (moto-cross) and Ricky Bowers and Matt O'Conner (snowboarding), will demonstrate what makes them among the best in the world. No snow is expected in Miami but that won't stop the jumpers from showing off their tricks on the 120-foot ski-jump.
Beyond 2002 will also showcase one of the fastest growing sports in the world -- paintball. Seventy-two teams of seven players each are expected to compete. Experts will also host seminars on the game's techniques.
Competitors from around the world will convene for special exhibitions including a three-day b-boy battle tournament, a DJ contest showcasing original mixes and moves and an MC battle. In addition, renowned graffiti experts will create street art murals.
Having attended and enjoyed Lollapalloza as teenagers, Miami-based independent promoters Shut Down Productions decided that the time is right for a new "super festival" for today's generation and began planning Beyond 2002 three years ago. They've teamed with extreme sports experts GrindCo Entertainment to present a complete entertainment festival experience.
Beyond 2002 has teamed with customized charter bus company, BusBank, to offer affordable transportation to Miami and back for this event. For $20 a day per rider with a minimum of 47 in a group, BusBank will transport the group to and from the festival.
More details on Beyond 2002 will be announced soon.
