The Go-Go's Return May 15th with First Full LP of New Music in 17 Years

Their New Single, "Unforgiven" (Co-Written by and Featuring Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong) To Hit Radio March 20

February 12, 2001 – The Go-Go's are about to add another chapter to their legacy with the May 15th release of God Bless the Go-Go's on Beyond Music.

Inspired by multitudes of fans old and new who have remained allegiant since their 1985 break-up, singer Belinda Carlisle, guitarists Jane Wiedlin and Charlotte Caffey, bassist Kathy Valentine and drummer Gina Schock finally agree that the time for new Go-Go's music is nigh.

Produced by Paul Kolderie and Sean Slade (Hole's Live Through This, Radiohead's The Bends), God Bless the Go-Go's features all the hallmarks of the signature Go-Go's sound and more. There's the first single "Unforgiven" (featuring Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day; "They were influenced by us, and we ended up getting re-influenced by them," Wiedlin laughs), an autobiographical ballad "Daisy Chain," and other Go-Go's gems such as "Apology," "Stuck In My Car" and "Vision Of Nowness."

The Go-Go's debuted in 1979 with the anthemic "We Got The Beat" single. The double platinum number-one LP Beauty and the Beat followed in 1981, featuring the gold number-two-charting re-recorded "We Got The Beat" as well as "Our Lips Are Sealed." Vacation struck gold the following year, while Talk Show (1984) yielded hits in "Head Over Heels" and "Turn To You." Despite a 1985 break-up, the band's influence and popularity continues to grow (from the original diehard fans through the pop-punk and riot grrl contingents), as evidenced by the sold-out reunion tour that preceded the release of God Bless the Go-Go's.
