Rancid's Lars Frederikson to Unleash Bastards on the World

February 10, 2001 – Rancid's Lars Frederiksen and Tim Armstrong are preparing to release an album of all new material that the duo wrote, recorded and mixed in only five days this past September. The side-project, which was produced by Armstrong, will be released under the title Lars Frederikson and the Bastards and will be appearing in-store March 20th under the flag of Armstrong's independently owned and operated Hellcat Records.

The album will feature 10 new Armstrong/Frederiksen songs, heavily inspired by Frederiksen's caustic youth in Campbell, CA, as well as covers of Billy Bragg's "To Have and Have Not" and Motorhead's version of the Yardbird's classic "Leavin Here." Frederiksen will tour in support of the release, hitting the road in March for an eight-week tour, where he and the Bastards (the band originally assembled for recording) will support fellow label mates the Dropkick Murphys. Lars recently debuted the Bastards at the Brickworks in Chico, CA this past Saturday. The band will be playing a string of warm-up dates in California throughout February in preparation for the Dropkick Murphys tour scheduled to kickoff in Poughkeepsie March 9th.
