January 7, 2003 — It's been quite a year for Daniel Johns, lead singer of the Australian trio, Silverchair.

Earlier in 2002 the band released its epic record, Diorama, to their biggest success to date in their native Australia. Then Johns was struck down with a debilitating arthritic condition which prevented him from support the album's release elsewhere. Now the 23-year-old singer is not only recovered but about to reach the biggest milestone of his life -- not the triple platinum record in his home country, where Diorama is currently #6 on the national charts -- but his upcoming marriage to fellow Aussie, Natalie Imbruglia.

The couple has just announced that they became engaged shortly before Christmas. They then spent the holiday season celebrating this news with friends and family in Australia. They have not yet set a date for their wedding.
