Static-X, Soulfly, Soil, and OneSideZero Hit the Road
January 31, 2002
Soulfly Take Break From the Studio for Co-Headlining tour with Static-X
Max Cavalera and the Soulfly tribe are currently putting the finishing touches on their latest studio effort to be released late Spring 2002. In the meantime, Soulfly will be heading out on the road on a co-headlining stint with Static-X,
with Soil and OneSideZero as support. The tour kicks off on January 31st at The Warfield in San Francisco, CA. This will be the first tour of many to come for Soulfly since being in the studio, and will give fans the first opportunity to hear new music from the band's as yet untitled album. The band's leader and creative mastermind, Max Cavalera, says, "We are really excited to go out with Static-X and play a few new songs for the fans. Some new songs we are going to play are 'Downstroy,' 'Enterfaith,' and 'Seek And Strike.'" Other song titles on the album also include "Last of the Mohicans," "Brazil," and "Soulfly III." Roy Mayorga, the band's original drummer, is back in the line up and will be joining Soulfly on stage for the first time in over three years.
Max not only wrote the music and lyrics for Soulfly's upcoming release, he also produced it. He worked along side engineer Otto D' Angolo, who produced the latest DMX record.
Soil Hits the Road with Static-X and Friends as "Unreal" Hits Radio
Coming off the Merry Mayhem Tour with Ozzy Osbourne
and Rob Zombie, Chicago's Soil join Static-X, Soulfly and OneSideZero
for a four-week U.S. trek (dates below).
This news comes as Soil's J Records' debut album Scars has soared above
100,000 copies in sales
The album's newly released single "Unreal" was a most added track at
Active Rock and is impacting Modern Rock now. "Unreal" follows the
band's Top 20 Active Rock debut single "Halo," the video of which
featured MTV and MTV2 play. Soil recently shot a video for "Unreal" in
Los Angeles with director Marc Webb (Green Day) at the helm.
Vocalist Ryan McCombs says "Unreal" was written about "the
amount of control, or better, the LACK of control one seems to have over
his/her own life at times.... and the feeling that maybe there is a
higher power out there and if there is, he clearly doesn't give a fuck
about me now or the times you seem to need a little help the most."
Soil are vocalist McCombs, bassist Tim King, drummer Tom Schofield
and guitarists Adam Zadel and Shaun Glass.
