Alien Ant Farm to Headline 7th Annual Snocore Tour Following Overseas Dates

January 14, 2002 — Alien Ant Farm have been tapped to headline the 7th annual SnoCore Rock Tour kicking off February 15 in Providence, RI. The group will perform on a lineup that also includes FenixTX, GlassJAw and one more band to be announced. The six-week tour will hit mid-size venues across the U.S. before wrapping up March 30 on the West Coast.

SnoCore will be preceded by a series of concert events overseas. Alien Ant Farm will take part in Australia and New Zealand's "Big Day Out" festival and they will also perform at MTV Europe's annual "Winter Jam" event on February 22 in Solden, Austria. The band will then embark on their first headlining tour across Europe which will include dates in Germany, France, Italy and England.

In other news, Alien Ant Farm -- Dryden Mitchell (vocals), Terry Corso (guitar), Tye Zamora (bass) and Mike Cosgrove (drums) -- began the new year on a high note with a "Best Hard Rock Performance" Grammy nomination for their #1 modern rock hit and MTV staple "Smooth Criminal." "We were all very surprised to hear that we were nominated," said Mitchell. "We've had a phenomenal year and this nomination alone is an honor. Even if we don't win, we've already won."

In addition to the Grammy nod, "Smooth Criminal" was recently named the #2 video on MTV's year-end countdown, as well as the #4 song of 2001 according to Los Angeles modern rock radio station KROQ. Meanwhile, the group's current single "Movies" just entered the Top 25 on Billboard's Modern Rock chart at #22 this week. The band performed the song December 26 on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno. Both songs are off the platinum ANThology (New Noize/DreamWorks).
