Korn Bassist to Release Solo Effort Jan 22
First member of Korn to record solo album does it hip-hop style
January 8, 2002 Fieldy is his releasing his solo effort, Rock n Roll Gangster (Epic), January 22nd. Those expecting a straight rock record from the Korn bassist will find Fieldy's love for hip-hop has an unmistakable presence on his first solo album. "What inspires me to make music, is rap music. I've always loved it and having the love I have for rap made me want to do a rap album," he says.
Fieldy wrote the lyrics and created most of the beats for the album. He also played the guitars, bass, drums and keyboards on the tracks he produced. The remaining tracks were produced by Polar Bear.
Fieldy recruited some of his friends to contribute vocals including Tre from Pharcyde on the track "Sugar-Coated" and Sondoobie of Funkdoobiest on "Put a Week on It." Of course, Korn frontman Jonathan Davis was included offering his unique vocals to the track "Just For Now."
To sum up the album, Fieldy says, "I just wanted to put together a fun party type record. Something to party to, you know? It's not full of gangsta rap or anything like that. To me, it's like Cheech and Chong meets Sesame Street."
