California Music Awards Salutes Boz Scaggs:
Bay Area Crooner Receives Nods for 'Outstanding Male Vocalist' and 'Outstanding R&B Album'

January 4, 2002 — The 2002 California Music Awards (formerly the Bammies) has awarded veteran soul vocalist Boz Scaggs with two nominations. Scaggs was nominated for Outstanding Male Vocalist and Outstanding R&B Album (for his new release Dig). The award ceremony will be held at Oakland's Henry J. Kaiser Arena on April 27, 2002.

Scaggs released "Dig," his first new material in seven years on Virgin Records in early September. While it's predominately a classic Boz record, it also showcases elements of hip-hop, jazz and funk. This fall, Boz completed a national tour in support of "Dig" and was also featured in the season premiere of Fox-TV's "Alley McBeal."
