The three Berlin brothers (Berlin is their last name – they're from the suburbs of St. Louis) play heavy punk rock with a precocious soul that was born to push people's buttons. God Forbid, IV: Constitution of Treason (Century Media) Jersey's devils God Forbid recently dropped THE SHIT with IV, a three-part political-ass-kicking album. Various Artists, Live At Continental Best of NYC Volume One Let me tell you what a typical night at the Continental is like: loud rock-n-roll bands, beer ...

Second guest Steve Wynn joined Napolitano for a sweet, playful cover of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' "The Ship Song." Napolitano dedicated a song to the city of New Orleans and her late brother Robert who passed away last year at the age of 26. The crowd applauded reverently until Napolitano opened her mouth and sang the word "Joey." This was the first Joey Ramone birthday bash without Charlotte Lesher, Joey's mom.

Machine Head at Roseland, New York, NY, March 22, 2007. Her royal Blondie-ness was in attendance along with her date Justin "Kiki" Bond for the unofficial final night at Sin-e, featuring Daddy, Miss Guy, Pretty Boys (Hopey and Galadriel of Candy Ass for the old farts reading this), Theo and the Skyscrapers, and Glass Hand fronted by her excellence Mistress Formika. by Jeanne Fury: Mar '07: Midnight Movies, The Fratellis, Willowz, Jesu, Lordi, The Cinematics, Earl Greyhound, Chinese Stars, ...

Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney performing at Webster Hall, New York, NY, August 2, 2006. This is the second consecutive farewell-themed NY Rock Confidential column. Facts of the matter are, they're ace musicians, aggressive songwriters, deftly intelligent, and when they were hot, they were total rock stars worthy of spandex, strippers, and smoke machines.

The man behind Rock N Roll Fag Bar, The Black Party, and (NY Rock's personal favorite) Homocorps got one last chance to throw that infamous soiree between the walls of CBGB. Hosted by that sassy fucker Formika, the night lit up with the band Celebutard, featuring local loco Lola Rock N Rolla and her shiny saxophona and ex-Lunachicks drummer Becky Wreck. The same Jane Friedman who suggested to Hilly Kristal that Patti Smith's band play a gig with Television at CBGB, thereby, planting the ...

And yet, for four sold-out nights at the Hammerstein Ballroom, the Axl Rose Band brought the crowd to its sha-nanananana knees, knees. The dude may have slowed down a bit, and his looks have certainly suffered, but a Rose is a Rose is a Rose. Axl sauntered out in baggy ripped jeans, a black pleathery shirt unbuttoned to his midsection, big black sunglasses and sporting his braided hair in a ponytail.

NYRock chatted with the rather demure Josh Todd (must be the California in him) about the new incarnation of Buckcherry, crazy bitches, and the business side of making music. NYR: Tell me about the song "Crazy Bitch." JT: (laughs) Well, you know, there was a point in my life where I had a lot of crazy bitches.

So began a journey into the thoroughly odd world of Andrew Wilkes-Krier, a.k.a. Andrew WK, the little prince of party metal. At the end of the day, the lead singer of disco hard-rock party monsters Electric Six is just trying to get paid. NYR: The previous album Fire, which everyone loved so much, was dance-party hard rock.

The Ark performing at Mercury Lounge, New York, NY, 12/1/5. Photo by Jeanne Fury © 2005 NYRock.com. Online coverage of the New York City music scene since 1996... The Ark, a leather-loving five piece from Sweden, hosed us down with sweaty glam rock that rang the bells of Queen, Spinal Tap, and their Scandinavian brethren Hanoi Rocks. Behind the two gentlemen was a screen that showed a somewhat catatonic Tim Fite sitting in a wheelchair and playing along to the live Tim Fite.
